I tried punchneedle once years and years ago in an R&R class ~ it was actually quite fun but haven't tried it since. Trying to keep myself focused in my stash heaps.

Lovely behind on the little pugster, but I think he could use some manly britches.Triciahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17068050408144600305noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35720658.post-24244375867185582132009-04-07T17:01:00.000-05:002009-04-07T17:01:00.000-05:00Love it love it love it. Love the punch needle angel. Did you trim your fabric and just turn it to the back? The dark edges would still be a tad darker but the whole piece might look a little less stark. I'd glue it right to the hornbook. I love the angel though and may have to go look to see if I have this. I haven't punched anything in a while.... you're inspiring me. Great shot of Astro's bootaytay ~ I hope he feels better, soon!Chocolates4Breakfast (Terri ~ Boog)https://www.blogger.com/profile/08442832426281875869noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35720658.post-20987081908166796482009-04-06T19:51:00.000-05:002009-04-06T19:51:00.000-05:00Oooh, I think I like Rachel's suggestion about the...Oooh, I think I like Rachel's suggestion about the stipple. When I first saw the angel on the white horn book I thought, how cute. Then when you asked about some background I thought you must be feeling the white is too stark against the angel - so maybe if you stipple or rub some...ok the equivalent if you were to tea stain your linen if that makes sense? I think that might blend in with your angel more.

Hope that helps.Melissahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17073567534248514127noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35720658.post-67227845239082642922009-04-06T18:52:00.000-05:002009-04-06T18:52:00.000-05:00what about painting the hornbook a little bit, rig...what about painting the hornbook a little bit, right where the angel would be? Maybe stipple some paint or stain? that way you get the layered effect without the bulk.Rachel S-Hhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09107389853919180602noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35720658.post-74902449223977174522009-04-06T18:31:00.000-05:002009-04-06T18:31:00.000-05:00Okay, me again. I kind of like the more subdued look of not having anything behind your angel, but I tend to be a minimalist, so I'm probably not much help with that, am I? But I am just loving your angel!Debhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00792171420098351093noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35720658.post-14924183173410755342009-04-06T18:28:00.000-05:002009-04-06T18:28:00.000-05:00I absolutely love your angel! I guess I would be ...I absolutely love your angel! I guess I would be a little hesitant to glue it to the hornbook too. How about making it into an ornament with a hanger that could go over the handle of the hornbook and it could hang from the handle, yet still look like it is actually attached to the hornbook. Then if you decide to actually hang it by itself or use the hornbook for something else, you could and wouldn't have to pull it off the board. But it looks adorable with the hornbook.Debhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00792171420098351093noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35720658.post-9573320359783588842009-04-06T17:23:00.000-05:002009-04-06T17:23:00.000-05:00Andrea, I LOVE LOVE LOVE your angel. Wonder how it would look if you backed it with some felt, then stitched some pieces of velcro to the felt, and glued the mates to the board, that way the glue wouldn't harm the angel, and you could remove it if you changed your mind about how you want to display it later on.
That Astro Dazzle is a hoot, he looks as cute on the flip side as he does from the front! I'm sorry he has been under the weather, is he ok?
I need to try that recipe too, my girls will be home for Easter weekend, maybe I'll fix some for them.Cindy in Virginiahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16610225578331820392noreply@blogger.com
