stitching and stashing

My friend Patti finished up her CHS Noah Stocking and seeing it inspired me to pull mine out and start on it...

It's being stitched on 40 ct. Lakeside Lentil over 2 with one strand of DMC, and so far, a very enjoyable stitch...

I needed a break from this one, all those blocks were getting monotonous!

Oh, and these arrived for my birthday earlier in the month...

they are all calling my name!

Over one week with NO SODA, yippee! AND...no snacking at work, which I think is a harder habit to break than the soft drinks. Geesh. But I am taking baby steps to a healthier me...so wish me luck!

just for fun

This morning Rachel let me know she'd given me the Kreativ Blogger Award, how fun! Thank you!

Here are the rules:

1 The winner may put the logo on her blog.
2 Put a link to the person you got the award from.
3 Nominate 5 blogs.
4 Put links to the blogs.5 Leave a message for your nominees.

And here are my five nominations, so many have already received this award, but these are some of my favorite blogs :)

Michelle Native Texan Stitching Abroad

Sharon Sharon's Cross Stitch Obsession

Pam Have It All

Jackie My Bloggy & Me

Melissa Musings From A Three Bedroom Ranch

I need to go let these gals know I nominated them, but first, some rambling thoughts...

it's HOT here. Ugh. All I can think about during summer is finding a cool spot and then not moving. And definitely not sweating....

Day Four of No Soda and I haven't killed anyone yet, so far, so good, but the headache is about to kill me...

we have a house mouse and it only likes sweet stuff! We've moved all food stuffs up high (did you know mice can climb? oh yes they can), but he's not interested in chips or corn tortillas or even bread, oh no, he tried to chew the lid off my International Suisse Mocha Coffee....I was reluctant to kill little Mickey Mouse, but his butt is mine now!

And I took this test...

As a 1930s wife, I am
Very Superior

Take the test!

and am laughing pretty hard that I did so well! Who woulda thunk it?

no comprende

Started on this Hare Game Board sampler by The Primitive Needle...those hares just crack me up!

My oldest daughter saw my WIP and asked "how much"? She loves bunnies so much she's willing to pay me for it, lol! Don't say anything, but it's for her ;)

These have intrigued me since I first saw them on someone else's blog, and I finally found a place to order some,
Down Sunshine Lane
! Very fast service, and they take PayPal!

And I also ordered this chart from
, which is where the "no comprende" factor comes in! I know, that's Spanish, but this chart is in French! Oy.

Guess I'll save it for a day when I'm up for a challenge....most of the stitches are pretty self explanatory I reckon and it is a beauty...

stitching and cleaning...

...but mostly cleaning. Except that it's too darn hot to clean, so that's when I stitch...

recent WIP's include EE&F Pansy Basket, progress so far:

and Plum Street Samplers Fishes and Bait progress:

Enjoying them both but have to admit the Fishes and Bait is a dream to stitch.

Can't show any progress on the cleaning front, I'd have to roll over and die from embarrassment if anyone saw the state of my house right now. Although, my good friend Sheri is coming over tomorrow for our stitch day and she won't mind, we're cool like that, our priorities are in order ;)

What led to the cleaning frenzy was the purchase of two large bookcases, one for the dining room/kitchen area to hold all my cookbooks, and one for the bedroom for all my crafting books. If you ever want to turn your house totally upside down, just decide to redo a room or organize and there you have it. OMG.

....(oops, I did it again)....edited to remove rant, i'm movin' on!

So back to life....a cool drink on a hot day, good friends, a wonderful husband and kids, stitching projects galore, what more could a girl ask for?

Just finished this one up last night, it had been a WIP for a while...

Design is from La D Da, stitched on 36 ct. Daily Grind over 2 with one strand NPI silk.

I changed the leaves and stems to a moss green...it called for the same silk color as the body of the bird, and I just liked the green better :)

I just love the whole series of nursery rhyme songs that she has out, next up, "Mares Eat Oats", but first I have an Ewe & Eye & Friends stitch along to participate in...

for that I am working on Pansy Basket, which has been in my stash forever! It feels good to be working on it!
