tiny finish and an oldie

My shoulder has been giving me FITS the past week, so there's not much to show in the finished department. Just this tiny heart...

It's ABC Heart, a bitty kit from Shepherd's Bush....

and I was going through my "finished" pile earlier today (cause if you can't stitch, the next best thing is playing with your stash, right?!), and came across this piece of work...

OMG, there are so many things wrong about it, but it's one thing I can never seem to part with.

Does anyone know the name of this? I can't remember if it was in a magazine...I did a LOT of stuff from mags back in the early 90's, anyone remember the Jeremiah Junction designs? I have stitched my fair share (and more), of those!

One of my Flickr pals, Sue (who started up the new BBD blog) recently shared a photo of this very same sampler in her photostream, her pic is much better than mine, and I actually think her finish is prettier as well ;-)
Now, looking at mine up close, I see some boo-boo's!

What you don't see is the MASKING TAPE that I used around the edges of the aida cloth, which is what I did to all my fabric back then. I'm pretty sure it wasn't acid free ::insert snort here::, so my plan is to cut it off, there's enough of a margin around the stitching to do it.
Anyhoo...it was framed very poorly by myself, in a really atrocious frame, so a few years ago I decided to "save" it by removing it from said frame and putting it away, to be re-framed later.
There are SO many things in that box to be framed or finished...some things I don't even LIKE anymore.
Maybe I should put those things up for adoption?

Hey gf! I'm lovin' the SB heart. YGG! I hope your shoulder is better soon. I don't see ANY problems/errors/mistakes in your other piece... I think we are our own worst critics. I say frame it & pop it in your kitchen and celebrate how wonderful you are.

I love your SB heart. I don't know the name of your rooster design, but you would never know there were any problems. And I had to laugh about the tape on the edges. I recently posted something on my blog about a project that I started 19 years ago, still not finished, and with masking tape on the edges.

I love you finish! I do hope that your shoulder gets to feeling better really soon!!!! I think that your old finish is just great! I do not see any mistakes in it. So if there are, they are not noticable at all!! I love it!

The little SB herat is so lovely.
I have never seen the sampler piece before but it looks so nice. Can't see any mistakes but in most cases it's only the stitcher who sees them, lol.

Now I am sure that the chart came from a library book.i don't remember buying many cross stitch mags back then.
i did mine on 14 count aida..can you imagine lol

I know the feeling wondering why you stitched something in the first place. Don't part with anything yet. Just keep it for a bit longer as you could regret parting with it later. I cannot see what is wrong with that chicken. Its a perfectly good chicken and a cute pattern!!

The heart may be small, but it is so pretty! I like your rooster sampler. I can't see any mistakes, but if they are there they make it uniquely yours. I think it's kind of fun to look at pieces from a few years back and see how we have progressed in our needlework. I would frame it if I were you!

Isn't it amazing how our taste changes over the years? I still love Jeremiah Junction though. I'm a loyal fan of their magazine.
Hope the shoulder feels better soon! Your wee heart is beautiful.
