one benefit of aging...

...is that although you might have to wear reading glasses to see your linen while stitching...

when you take them off, you don't see the pug hair or the twisty stitches!

Gentle Art Sampler Threads

Here's my patriotic finish for the 4th, just a wee bit late! Started in June, this one took me forever it seemed, all of that border! I decided before starting on it, that I would not railroad my stitches, (something I usually do when stitching with two threads because I tend to twist my thread a lot while stitching), as that takes a lot more time for me. And since this will be a pillow that the dogs will just shed on, who's ever going to know that my stitches aren't flat? And I certainly can't tell without my glasses!

Here's another benefit of my getting older....I DON'T EVEN CARE ANYMORE! Life is just too short to fuss over such things. At least for me anyway! I have doggies to kiss, people to hug, pies to make...you get the picture!

Gotta run, Muttley is whining because his tennis ball is under the coffee table!
Have a Happy Weekend!

This is gorgeous Andrea, and it certainly didn't suffer from you not railroading. Sounds like you're in the perfect frame of mind to me!

Oh my word, Andrea, it's just gorgeous. Love it! Yes I can see that the border is tough going with all that stitching. And railroading? I had never heard of it till last year and no, I don't do it.

I agree, there are other things to fuss about! Have fun with the 'puppies'.

I love your reasoning - life is too short! And I love this design. I have never seen it before, but I love it! I can imagine the border was a little tiresome, but what a beautiful end product!

LOL! I will remember this bit of sage advice next time ... always a good excuse to take of the specs! ;)

It's a beautiful design and one you're sure to enjoy for many a year to come!

I agree with you 1000%, although in my case it is long white cat fur that is embedded into my non-railroaded stitching :)
Yup, I wear glasses - LOL!

Love your American pillow GF. You are right, life is too short to fuss over stitches. Your pies sound so good. You have me drooling first thing in the morning. So you also have a tennis ball obsessed dog? I have two!!! Cannot keep up supplying them with new balls as they destroy them so fast but they love their balls and will walk the whole day with one in mouth. I will try and take a photo sometime.
Hugs

I love your reasoning:)) That design has such a beautiful border on it. My Lab does that whining thing when his tennis ball is under the furniture too. Sometimes I am sure he could get it for himself but it is easier to whine and get Mum to do it LOL!!

No stitching is complete without a few dog hairs!!Twisty threads, where, what? No one is twisted here. lol

Andrea, WOW!!! As always, I want to stitch this now, having seen your beautiful, incredible finish. I love it! And hey, I figure I'm doing a service for the future generations by leaving in the dog hair. After all, they just have to test the DNA from the licked floss I've used and the interwoven dog (and human) hair to know it was wrought by me & The Fluffinator. ;)

I'm so glad you liked the tomato pie. It has been one of my favorites for years. It's a rich and savory pie, but if the crust is right then it's perfect! Thanks for letting me know!

Love my readers, I couldn't stitch without them. Gorgeous finish!

I had to laugh, Chloe puts her balls and squeaky toys under the couch and then barks and whines for me to come get them out for her :-). It's a good thing we love them, LOL.

Wow, I love it! And had to LOL @ not caring anymore!! I hear ya sister, because I'm a railroader from way back and that's why stitching takes me so dang long. I obsess over those things, and that's why silks bother me sometimes too--when you use one strand, you can't railroad it and it sometimes isn't laying right!!!! AAAAAAGHHG. :p
