dusty tuesday

Broken hot water pipe under house + twelve inches of foundation to jackhammer through + TONS of concrete dust over every available surface in house = ONE BIG HEADACHE! Oy.
I'd just done a major cleaning after putting away Christmas stuff. And that my friends, just proves my theory that housework is a complete waste of time!

Remember, too much housework, when done correctly, can KILL YOU.
Make it your motto!
Oh well! With not much else to do, I am camping out with the Pugs in the bedroom, as the workers jackhammer away across the house, in the laundry room. The noise is only mildly ear piercing from here. I am keeping the doggies calm by using Cesar's advise of being the strong and confident pack leader, but all this licking they are doing is almost driving me insane!! What is it with Pugs and licking, anyway?! Dang it!

No stitchy news this week, since with all that cleaning, and subsequent shower of concrete dust, the conditions are not that conducive. I was working on the big beautiful red cardinal from the BBD Joyeux Noel book (what's he called?) but put it away so all the lovely silks wouldn't get covered in dust. Meanwhile, here's something I got back from the finisher back in December I think.

It's an old Ewe & Eye & Friends design, and if I recall correctly, from an old JCS magazine, but it's been so long, I can't say with certainty.

I'm really very, very picky on how I like my things finished, so this was the SECOND time I had to pay for finishing....

but at least it's right this time.

So the lessons today are these. The housework thing...remember, it kills. And Pugs lick a lot, even when they're remaining calm. And be careful who does your finishing for you the FIRST time, or else you end up paying twice for it, like me. And that's just silly!

Sorry you're in such a mess right now. I will definitely remember the housework motto!

Gorgeous finish from Deb, and your stitching is as well! I love the edging she used, and the backing fabric is really beautiful! Enjoy!

What a fantastic finish from Deb! She's rescued a few things for me, too. Okay, yes, things I tried to finish on my own. Ahem. She is a miracle worker!!

Sorry to hear about all the dust and so on. It is true, house work can kill you. Hang in there, gf!! xoxo

Oh yuck, sorry to hear about your house issues, doesn't sound even a little bit fun.

Love the EEF piece, isn't Deb the best. I am never disappointed.

Ugh! I hate dust. With living w/ our macaw Bandit, we get a coating of feather dust on everything!

The pillows are gorgeous! I love the bottom one.

XOXO

Hmm I wonder if I told the OG of your experience he would back off from being Mr. Clean.......doubtful. I hope the plumbing problem is soon taken care of and you can get your house back to normal again.

As always, Deb did a wonderful finishing job with your stitching.

Oh no, Andrea! What a mess - I'm sorry you and the puggies are having to live through that. UGH!!

Love the E&e&F finish! It is absolutely fantabulous! I really like the trim Deb used for it - very, very pretty!

I try to be the alpha person in my family, too. Doesn't work very well - Cesare makes it look SO easy. Liar!

Take care, take an aspirin or better yet, have a cocktail (or two)!

Oy! Whatamess! Not fun at all. I hope it all gets done soon!

The EEF is lovely and I've heard from more than one person that Deb is a miracle worker. Good thing you found her!

your finish is lovely and I really like the trim and the backing Deb used..I feel for you and all the dust and upset your are having because of your broken hot water pipe..My dachshund is a licker too and sometimes it gets to be very annoying..So I guess it isn't just pugs.

Deb is good at finishing rescues! Love what she did with yours. That bit of lace trim is lovely with it. Hope the jackhammering and concrete dust blowing ends soon - I'd have to wear earplugs, I think!

Deb is truly a miracle worker. Your pincushion looks wonderful. Sorry to hear about the broken pipe, jackhammers, etc. Owen drives me crazy with his excessive (to me) nail grooming, which can only be done once the lights are turned out and it's time to go to sleep.
But I still love him!

I'm sure it was worth the money, though, because that finishing is gorgeous -- so is the stitching, by the way. Wowie!

Now as for that cleaning thing: couldn't agree more.

Good luck with all that hammering going on AND with the beasties. Poor things. ALL of you!

Jackhammers, and dust, and broken water pipes, oh my! I think it sounds like a good excuse for a road trip. Love your finish from Deb - she truly is a amazing!

I hope everything returns to normal quickly!

Cute pincushion from Deb.

I will take your word for it that too much housework can kill you. I have never even remotely gotten close!

Karen V has that BBD cardinal all finished up today ~ such a sweet design.

Our Rigby, who is largely a Rottie-Lab mix, also licks like crazy when he's nervous. He's actually licked himself bald and then licked the skin off and had to go to the vet for antibiotics in the past. So I do sympathize!!

I cannot imagine jackhammers dealing with 12 inches of concrete foundation. My head hurts just thinking about it.

I'd say that's a huge headache!! We did a major extension to our house 10 years ago and I still remember the layers of dust that were around no matter what! Hope the work gets done quickly.

Cute finish from Deb. I love EE&F (amongst many others!)and this one is lovely.

Sorry to hear about the dust but I can certainly appreciate your situation. We live in the country and dust is a given but when you add jack hammers to the equation, oy! is right! Hang in there.
