Long time, no blog!
It's not really that I have nothing to say. Or anything to show (see below), it's just that I haven't really felt like saying it or showing it. Anyone know what I mean? So, there are few words for this post, just mostly pictures, it's the best I can do for now...

(the stitching was completed back in 2000, it's an old Twisted Threads kit. Stitched over one with Anchor threads, if I recall correctly).

more from the finisher

This little finish is from Twisted Threads. I finished it a couple of years ago, exactly as it was charted, but was not that happy with it and never could figure out how to finish it off. It was very labor intensive, all that solid over one stitching and all, so tossing it wasn't really an option, lol!

So I sent it to the finisher with the instructions to just "do whatever you want to with it".

And boy hidee, did she ever! (If you click on the photo, you can see a better close up view)



The silk ribbon she gathered around the edges (what's that called again?) was the perfect touch!

And just look at the back of it!



I really do love it now, more than I could have ever imagined :)

cold snap

Aww, finally having a cold spell here, feels so good! Bet it doesn't last, Texas weather doesn't stay one way or the other for very long. I enjoyed putting on my Pug socks someone had given me and my long pants to go to work, lol! Even though that is the best thing about summer (to me), just slipping on sandals and going!

Stitching wise, I haven't gotten much done, just all over the place because of problems with my shoulder and hands and not being able to stitch for very long. Working on a couple of different things, will show some progress pics later in the week when I have time to get out the camera.

Here's something for you to look at though ;)




It's an old Twisted Threads design, appropriately named Strawberries, if I recall correctly. Stitched over one on 32 ct. I just recently put it in this hanging tuck pillow that I'd bought from Tobie and it's now hanging off of a knob on my china cabinet in the dining room.

All of the prizes from my drawing went out last week, so hopefully everyone has gotten them by now, or will very soon. I have heard from KsMaryLou that hers arrived, which is a good thing! Thanks for letting me know ML!

We have new living room furniture arriving on Wednesday, I'm so excited! The tables have display space in them, if that makes sense. The tops are glass and then you can open up the area below to put things in that you want to display. Guess what's going in most of them? LOL! I told DH he gets ONE of the end tables for his stuff and the other two tables are for me!
That's fair, right? Once I get them loaded up and arranged, I'll post some pics.

random things

Everyone around here is sickly. It started with youngest daughter, moved to son and then to oldest daughter and husband. So far I've escaped but feel it lurking...hard to explain but things are a bit fuzzy and sore and just plain ol' yucky. Just praying it doesn't hit me full force until after work on Tuesday because that's a night that I can't miss. Meanwhile, I've made a few runs to the store for medicines, cough drops and kleenex and made some taco soup for dinner and sprayed Lysol on everything but the peoples and fur-babies.



Speaking of furbabies...we're quite possibly getting a new addition on December 5th, a Pug puppy who will be 6 weeks old on that day and ready for adoption. He's got all of his papers and will be quite expensive, at least for us, we've never paid very much for any of our precious pets, at least not at first, in the long run, thousands, of course. Anyway...we've been talking to Scooby and gearing him up for a little brother...so far he's all over the idea.



In October we went to the State Fair of Texas.


It was 94 degrees that day which is the hottest it's ever been when we've gone before. We passed out fairly often but the times in between were A-OK.

A few highlights for you.

Each year they have a "Butter Sculpture". It is OH so exciting, so much so that it actually makes the local news, the process of carving whatever it is they carve out of the huge chunk of butter. Do they do this in other state fairs or it is just a stupid Texas trick? (We have lots of those here, btw, and they usually always make NATIONAL news, just to show the rest of the world how dumb we all are, but I digress).

In case you can't make out what it is, it's Marilyn Monroe, naturally. We never could figure out who the guy standing beside her was, guess it was supposed to be her co-star in the movie that the scene is from...can't think of the name of the movie, sorry. Oh, Some Like It Hot? Yeah, that's probably it.

Well, no recent stitching pictures to share...got a new camera and haven't figured it out quite yet. So here's one of something I stitched several years ago.

It's a design by Twisted Threads and the whole bottom part is done over one, as is the lettering, and the acorn top is done in satin stitches. It's my husbands favorite fall thing that I bring out each year.
